Some people collect coins。
Some people collect art。
And Jerome?
Jerome collected words 。 。 。

In this extraordinary new tale from Peter H。 Reynolds, Jerome discovers the magic of the words all around him -- short and sweet words, two-syllable treats, and multisyllable words that sound like little songs。 Words that connect, transform, and empower。

Finally got a chance to read this and needless to say that it did not disappoint。 Great bed time or anytime read!

I love the design of this book, the art, the representation, but there are some inconsistencies with the messages in a couple of parts。 I also didn’t like that he throws all his words into the valley。 Early childhood works hard to teach lessons on picking up trash, being a good citizen, so it just doesn’t quite fit with the other messages。 Maybe I’m picky!

3。5/5 A lovely picture book all about the joy of learning new words, perfect for a primary teacher who needs a prompt for their new class 'wonderful words wall'。 The illustrations and story were super engaging, I have no trouble imagining children aged 6-10 enjoying this as a read aloud in the classroom。 Would have been a 4* rating but the ending lost some of the simple joy of words the rest of the story embodied for me。 3。5/5 A lovely picture book all about the joy of learning new words, perfect for a primary teacher who needs a prompt for their new class 'wonderful words wall'。 The illustrations and story were super engaging, I have no trouble imagining children aged 6-10 enjoying this as a read aloud in the classroom。 Would have been a 4* rating but the ending lost some of the simple joy of words the rest of the story embodied for me。 。。。more

Peter H。 Reynolds is a great author, I adore his book The Dot。The word collector is a wonderful, wonderful picture book and a wonderful story, with a lot of love for words, a lot of warmth and something inherently beautiful。。。。 but it has a completely shallow and meaningless ending! This is a delightful book about the power of words。 While many people collect rocks, bugs, or baseball cards, Jerome collects words。 He collects words that he saw, read, or heard。 He collected more and more and more。 One day, Jerome had an accident and jumbled his words。 He discovered he could make songs and poems by putting words together。 Soon, Jerome's love of words became so great he felt he had to share them with others。 Peter H。 Reynolds uses fun illustrations and a unique storyline to a This is a delightful book about the power of words。 While many people collect rocks, bugs, or baseball cards, Jerome collects words。 He collects words that he saw, read, or heard。 He collected more and more and more。 One day, Jerome had an accident and jumbled his words。 He discovered he could make songs and poems by putting words together。 Soon, Jerome's love of words became so great he felt he had to share them with others。 Peter H。 Reynolds uses fun illustrations and a unique storyline to appeal to growing readers。 He introduces children to new vocabulary in a way that makes learning engaging and interesting。 Teachers can use the book as a mentor text for writing lessons on word choice and adjectives。 The book could also be used for vocabulary and spelling lessons。 Most importantly, Reynold's book sends the message that words are powerful and give people a voice。 。。。more

I truly love this little book。 For all the logophiles out there, especially those who don’t know they are logomaniacs yet。

This book is a great read for children simply just discussing the properties of language。 A boy named Peter learns about short words, two syllable words, and multi-syllable words。 He even learns the power behind words and their meanings。 This book also focuses on the impact that words can have on others。 Language learning can help improve children's thinking skills, as well as their memory abilities。 In the Rice article, he states "He regards children's first categories as tentative sorting with This book is a great read for children simply just discussing the properties of language。 A boy named Peter learns about short words, two syllable words, and multi-syllable words。 He even learns the power behind words and their meanings。 This book also focuses on the impact that words can have on others。 Language learning can help improve children's thinking skills, as well as their memory abilities。 In the Rice article, he states "He regards children's first categories as tentative sorting within the options provided by the perceptual regularities, categories that are "evanescent" in nature" (Rice, 1983)。 The importance of language acquisition and language learning is crucial to child's development。 Through this book as a future SLP I would be able to help children's early language skills develop through learning what two-syllable words are, and then multi-syllable words and so on。 For a child that may be language-impaired this book would be especially useful。 It would allow the teacher or SLP to teach them language skills while also practicing reading。 。。。more

I am so excited to add this book to my collection! It inspires students to notice words they love, whether it be their meaning, sound, or how they look。 I plan to use this book to begin a classroom practice of word collection。 Students will write any interesting word they come across down on a slip of paper and add it to a big jar。 When students struggle to come up with writing ideas, one option will be for them to pull a few words out of the jar to inspire an interesting sentence or thought tha I am so excited to add this book to my collection! I love this book! The story itself is really unlike many children’s books and the illustrations were just fun。 The range of representation was great and it was a great read。 This would be great for students to read alone and just enjoy themselves reading。

Love this book so much! It is heartfelt and clever all in the right spots--the pictures are to die for! Then again, I am a huge huge Reynolds fan--maybe that makes me a little basis!! I am never disappointed when I read his titles。 I highly recommend this book be added to for a personal library, classroom library, etc。

This story is about Jerome who collects words。 I love that Jerome is fascinated by the words he hears, reads, and says。 I think it is precious to see how much he loves words。 I think that could be encouraging to students in the classroom when learning new vocabulary。 I recommend this book!
